Hi, I’m Denise and Comfy Abode was born out of my love for home décor, good food and comfortable living.
I was raised in an Italian family where everyone liked to cook and eat. Both my dad, who was from southern Italy, and my mom, from the U.S., were passionate about cooking.
What I loved about my parents was their creativity with food and how they could always whip up something unique to feed a big crowd.
One of the first skills I learned at a young age was baking. I love making cookies and sweets, but try to do it in moderation or mostly around the holidays.
I also love making some of my mom’s old recipes, for yummy dinners that remind me of growing up. But my life is more than just about food, so let me share a little bit more about me.
I am a wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many. I like to think of my friends as family and family as friends.
I am also a spiritual person and a true believer in God. I believe God has gotten me through many things in life and continue to have strong faith.
I enjoy decorating, crafts and up-cycling old pieces of furniture. My obsession with furniture makes me a frequent bargain hunter at the local flee markets and garage sales.
I think it’s fun and rewarding when you can make something old, new and useful again.
Living in New England, I also love weekend getaways to New York, Rhode Island and Boston. I find it’s a great way to unwind from the work week and give myself a change of pace.
Along with blogging, I work in marketing communications by profession, which has perfected my digital marketing and social media skills.
When I’m not working, I like to garden, watch movies, experiment with DIY projects, and visit different shops and restaurants, forever in search of something new to try.
But regardless what I’m doing, I’m happiest when I’m meeting and surrounding myself with good people, so please feel free to stop by and say hello! 😊
