Hi, I’m Denise and Comfy Abode was born out of my love for good food, home décor and comfortable living on a middle class salary. As this blog has evolved, I also share my journey about blogging and making money online.
I was raised in an Italian family where everyone liked to cook and eat. My dad, who was from southern Italy, and my mom, from the U.S., were both passionate about cooking.
Their amazing recipes taught me a lot of about cooking great food. What I loved about my parents was their creativity with food and how they could always whip up something unique to feed a big crowd.
One of the first skills I learned at a young age was baking. I love making cookies and sweets, but try to do it in moderation, because I really love dessert.
I also love making some of my mom’s old recipes, for yummy dinners that remind me of growing up. But my life is more than just about food, so let me share a little bit more about me.
I am a wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many. I like to think of my friends as family and family as friends.
I am also a spiritual person and a true believer in God. I believe God has gotten me through many things in life and I continue to have strong faith.
One of the things God has gotten me through was a serious health scare. I had a brain bleed stroke and it totally changed the way I think about my life.
But I am fortunate to have recovered so well, because without good health, life is just harder.
At home, I also enjoy decorating, crafts and up-cycling old pieces of furniture.
My obsession with furniture makes me a frequent bargain hunter at the local flee markets and garage sales. And since I love spending time outside and in the garden, I also look for things that I can use outdoors.
I just think it’s fun and rewarding when you can make something old, new and useful again.
Living in New England, I also love weekend getaways to New York, Rhode Island and Boston. I find it’s a great way to unwind from the work week and give myself a change of pace.
Along with blogging, I work in marketing communications by profession, which has perfected my digital marketing and social media skills.
When I’m not working, I like to watch movies, experiment with DIY projects, and visit different shops and restaurants, forever in search of something new to try.
But regardless what I’m doing, I’m happiest when I’m meeting and surrounding myself with good people, so please feel free to stop by and say hello! 😊
