Need a decorative tray to use in certain area of your house? Consider how easy it is to make a DIY picture frame tray, using things you already have around the house.
All you need are picture frames and various materials you happen to have on hand. Whether it’s cloth, paper, reclaimed wood or vinyl there’s no end to how creative you can get.
The DIY picture frame tray shown here I put together in about 10 minutes. I was in my basement one day when I ran across some leftover floor tiles and thought how nice the colors matched my silk flower arrangement.
I used the picture frame backing to trace the correct size onto the tile and cut it to fit with a utility scissors. Next, I put the tile in the frame under the glass and secured it with the tabs. It was that easy to make!
This next DIY picture frame tray was made from a larger frame that was also a bit deeper because it had two layers of matting. Once the matting was removed, there was plenty of room to fit a woven cloth placemat behind the glass.
Here is my homemade picture frame tray on the coffee table, and I love how it blends with room. I could get fancier and add handles, but I think this one is just perfect as is.
So whether you want to style a coffee table, need extra trays for entertaining or want a tray that blends with your décor, consider how easy and fun it is to make your own picture frame trays!
