Bowl fillers. They’ve been around for a while and are an easy way to jazz up a bowl on your coffee table. However, if you are looking for new ideas on how to use them, today I am sharing how I use bowl fillers to decorate in my own home.
What’s nice is that I reuse the same set of bowl fillers throughout the year with different every day items and glassware. Having collected glass for many years, I stopped using bowls to fill and started rummaging through my china cabinet looking for new ideas.
This is a gold trimmed Italian vase I’ve had for a while and it’s pretty deep so I just add crumpled up newspaper to the bottom of it and over-fill the top with my set of decorative bowl fillers.
Here is a silver basket I’ve use over the years throughout my home, (and please excuse the fact that I have not polished it). But it still looks great with just a few bowl filler balls in it. The idea is to take something that you really like, that is being stored away, and put it on display in your home so you can enjoy it.
This one is one of my favorite, because I’ve collected some milk glass over the years and usually only use it around the holidays. But now I display it with bowl fillers on candle holders and in the compote, along with a sprig of floral accents, and it definitely gets noticed when friends and family stop by.
For late fall into Thanksgiving, I just fill up a small wood crate with a battery operated candle, my bowl fillers and a few small wooden decorations I found at the dollar store and I have a really affordable centerpiece. This also would make a nice hostess gift if you are going to someone’s home over the holidays.
So if you’re looking for new ways to decorate with bowl fillers, turn to your china and glass storage cabinets and you may be very surprised with what you come up with. 🙂
